Scoring And Preparation Tips For CELPIP

How is CELPIP Scored?

Each section of the CELPIP test is scored on a scale of 1 to 12:

  • A score of 9–12 indicates advanced proficiency.

  • A score of 5–8 reflects adequate proficiency.

  • A score of 1–4 suggests limited proficiency.

For Canadian permanent residency, the required score often varies depending on the immigration program but usually aims for a CLB 7 or higher (equivalent to a CELPIP score of 7+).

Preparation Tips for CELPIP:

  • Practice listening: Familiarize yourself with Canadian accents by watching news, TV shows, or videos from Canada.

  • Enhance reading skills: Read Canadian content, such as news articles or blogs.

  • Improve writing: Practice writing structured emails and opinion pieces.

  • Develop speaking skills: Record yourself speaking about various topics to get comfortable with the CELPIP tasks.
